Which AI visibility tools do ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity recommend? (October 2026)
If you ask an AI assistant which tool shows whether AI recommends your business, which names come back? We asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity five buyer questions, twice each, on 15.10.2026, and counted every tool they named. We sell such a tool ourselves, so we publish our own result too: PickableAI was named 0 times.

Tools named most often, share of the answers
30 answers: 5 questions, asked twice to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity (10 answers each), 15 October 2026. The detail shows in how many of each assistant's 10 answers the tool was named.

Key findings
- 53 different tools in 30 answers. There is no settled list yet: 15 tools were named in a single answer.
- Three tools stand out. Semrush was named in 14 answers (47%), Ahrefs was named in 10 answers (33%), Peec AI was named in 10 answers (33%). No other tool reached a third of the answers.
- Each assistant has its own list. Gemini named Peec AI in 8 of its 10 answers; ChatGPT never did. 14 tools were named by ChatGPT only, 12 by Gemini only and 16 by Perplexity only. Semrush was the most even: ChatGPT 2, Gemini 5, Perplexity 7.
- The answers lean on articles about the tools. The sites the assistants cited most were menafn.com (6), usa.inquirer.net (5), amplitude.com (4), blog.hubspot.com (4), cincinnati.com (4), linkedin.com (4), omniforce.run (4), openpr.com (4). Several of them publish press releases and sponsored articles: a tool that is written about gets named.
- PickableAI: 0 of 30. Our own tool was not named once. We will measure again and publish the next result here.
What it means if you are choosing a tool
- Ask more than one assistant. The list you get depends on the assistant you ask.
- Compare on what the tool measures, not on how often AI names it: being named mostly says a tool is written about. Our comparison of AI visibility tools lists prices and what each one checks.
- If you sell such a tool, the result above is the same lesson we give local businesses: AI names what other sites describe. For any software, see does ChatGPT recommend your software?.
Method
- Questions (in English): “What are the best tools to check whether ChatGPT recommends my business? Give me up to 5 names.” · “Which tools track a brand's visibility in AI answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity? Name up to 5.” · “What are the best AI search visibility tools for small businesses? Up to 5 names.” · “What are the best GEO (generative engine optimization) tools for marketing agencies? Up to 5 names.” · “I want to know if AI assistants recommend my local business. Which tool should I use? Up to 5 names.”
- Assistants: ChatGPT (gpt-4.1-mini with OpenAI web search, through OpenRouter), Gemini (Flash Lite with Google Search) and Perplexity (Sonar), all with live web search: the settings of PickableAI's paid checks. Each question asked twice to each assistant (30 answers).
- Counting names: an AI model (Gemini, without web search) listed the tools named in each answer, at most 5. We merged the spellings of the same tool (“SEMrush” and “Semrush”, “OtterlyAI” and “Otterly.AI”, “HubSpot Breeze” and “HubSpot”). A tool counts once per answer.
- Sources: the web pages each assistant cited, counted once per answer.
- Data: the full count for all 53 tools is in the CSV file.
Limits
- One day, 30 answers. Answers change from one day to the next: a second run would give a somewhat different order.
- Five questions in English. Other wordings or languages would name other tools.
- Names counted by an AI model, checked by hand on the top of the list only.
- We are not neutral: PickableAI is one of the tools in this market. The questions are written as a buyer would ask them, and the figures are published as measured.
